15:15 -15:50 The offsite connection to the Internet was unavailable due to a fault experienced by our supplier, UKERNA. Update 16:05: The connection is working again and appears to have been caused by a failure of a router to which Lancaster is connected. Work will be done on Tuesday to try to prevent a reoccurance of the problem.

Due to some hardware problems, emergency work took place on Thursday 22nd June in the Management School. This affected all network connectivity for about 1 hour from 8am.
Wed 21 Jun 2006 - Exchange Email Maintenance and LUVLE and 'My Modules' Maintenance
The exchange email system will be temporarily unavailable between midday and 3PM on Wednesday 21st June for essential maintenance. LUVLE and 'My Modules' was unavailable from 2pm on Wednesday 21st June for one hour to allow for essential maintenance on the server.

Following some problems with multicast our hardware supplier has recommended upgrading software on several core switches. This affected most areas of campus for around 5 minutes between 7am and 9am on Tuesday 20th June.

LUVLE and 'My Modules' was unavailable from 2pm on Wednesday 14th June for about one hour, to allow essential server maintenance to be carried out.

Fri 9 Jun 2006 - Central Filestore hardware failure, and Engineering building network problem
14:50 A hardware failure on Central Filestore (i.e. H: drive personal filestore)
is affecting about one third of users on campus. Users with a folder number
between 40 and 60 will find that their computer runs slowly and may not log-on.

17:10 Update: The hardware failure that affected central filestore has been
resolved. Some people may notice slower response times on central filestore
while the server rebuilds itself.
There have been further problems in Engineering since Tuesday, causing very short periods of network outage lasting under 1 minute. Network support have been working on resolving these problems with the manufacturer of the hardware and following advice have swapped some parts. We will continue to monitor the situation over the weekend.

The server containing LUVLE and 'My Modules' was anavailable for an hour from 2pm on Wednesday 7th June to perform essential maintenance.
Tue 6 Jun 2006 - Network Maintenance
During the 'network at risk' period on Tue 6th June, network redesign work was carried out in Bailrigg House/The Croft and County. For details, see Campus Redesign.
During the 'network at risk' period on Tue 6th June, the core switch/router in the Management School was replaced.
Following hardware failures of recent weeks in Engineering, the faulty fibre card in the core switch in Engineering was replaced during the 'network at risk' period on Tue 6th June.

For the past three days people have been getting more 'unmarked Spam'. Today the Spam scanner was restarted on one of the mail hubs. Spam levels should return to normal.
