During the 'at risk' period on Tuesday 22 April, core WiNet equipment was moved. Work began at 7am and was completed by 9am, during which time logging on to the wireless networks 'eduroam' and 'lancaster' was intermittent

The Lab has now been refurbished with new PCs and is open.

Wed 16 Apr - Upgrade of Central Web Server, Library Network & LUVLE Maintenance
Library Network at risk
During the 'at risk' period on 16th April between 07:30 and 09:00, work was carried out to increase the reliability of the Library Network. The work is being done during the Wednesday late opening period for the Library. Service was restored before at 10:10.
LUVLE Services Unavailable
Luvle, myPlace, my Modules, online assessments and module feedback was unavailable between 4pm and 6pm to allow for server maintenance work to be carried out.
Upgrade of Central Web Server
Access to the the central web server www.lancs.ac.uk was read only between 4pm and 6pm whilst a hardware upgrade was carried out. Web pages will continue to be available, but no changes will be possible during this time.

Wed 09 Apr - Planned System Maintenance - Webmail, LUVLE & HPC
Upgrade of the Webmail/Unix Mail System
To modernise and improve the system performance, work was carried out on the Unix Mailstore between 2pm and 6pm on Wednesday 9th April 2008. Webmail/Unix mail was not available during this period. Following the outage, the Webmail service will be fully restored. Some Unix mail users will be substantially affected by the changes to the mail system and are advised to follow the 'More Information' link below.
LUVLE Services Unavailable
Luvle, myPlace, my Modules, online assessments and module feedback were unavailable between 2pm and 6pm on Wednesday 9th April to allow for server maintenance work to be carried out.
HPC Maintenance
There will be a brief (approx 10 minutes) maintenance session on Weds Apr 9th at 1pm to upgrade the Panasas shelf to the latest version. The expected behaviour is that running jobs will pause briefly during the upgrade and then continue unaffected, but as with all maintenance please consider jobs to be 'at risk'. The upgrade will fix problems where large numbers of file deletions can cause the Panasas shelf to hang.

Fri 04 Apr - Symantec Virus Definitions Reported As 'More Than 14 Days Old
Symantec AntiVirus is reporting that its 'virus definitions' are more than 14 days old. No user action is required. This problem will be resolved by centrally by ISS

Recently some people have been receiving large numbers of 'Mail Delivery failure' messages. In most cases this is due to Spammer activity or virus activity on an external computer, rather than local virus infection.
