Fri 28 Nov - Deployment of MS Office 2007 to all ISS Managed Build PCs
ISS is in the closing stage of a campus wide deployment of MS Office 2007 to all ISS Managed build machines. Staff with a Managed Windows XP PC and still using Office 2003 will be upgraded to Office 2007 over the weekend starting 29/30th November. Leaving your PC powered on and logged off will enable this upgrade to take place. PCs which have been switched off over the weekend will need to be MANUALLY restarted in order for the upgrade to commence.
"Is my Windows XP PC managed?" Click on the 'Start' button; right-click on 'My Computer and then click on the 'Properties' option. If you can see the University logo then your Windows XP PC is 'managed'.
Thu 27 Nov - Printing problems, VOIP Telephony Maintenance
Printing problems
Some staff were experiencing problems while attempting to print documents.
12:15 - ISS technical support staff have located the probable source of the printing problem and are working on a solution.
14:15 - The problem with printing to HP 4250 printers has been fixed; to complete the fix proces,s users should log-off and log-on.
Anyone who continues to have problems printing should contact the ISS Service Desk with full details of the issue.
Voice Over IP Telephony Maintenance
The scheduled maintenance work on the Voice Over IP telephone network is now complete. For important post-upgrade advice please refer to http://www.lancs.ac.uk/iss/voip/upgrade.htm.

During the 'at risk' period on Wednesday 26th November between 07:00 and 08:30 work was done in the Library to improve performance and reliability to computers in the Library extension.

During the week beginning Monday 24th November 2008 scheduled maintenance was carried out on the VOIP telephony infrastructure to provide a new hardware and software platform.

Thu 20 Nov - Infolab Network Maintenance
The replacement part for the Infolab core switch was put into service on Thursday morning between 07:45 and 08:15. During this time there were brief outages to offices in the University wing of Infolab. The KBC was unaffected by these works.
Wed 19 Nov 2008 - LUVLE Maintenance
LUVLE, myPlace, myModules, online assessments and module feedback was unavailable between 16:00 and 18:00 on Wednesday 19th November to allow for server maintenance work to be carried out.
Tue 18 Nov - Network Problems in Infolab; Network Maintenance: Engineering Offices and Bowland Residences
Tue 18 Nov 2008 - Network Problems in Infolab
Due to hardware problems, users in InfoLab may be experiencing network problems this morning. A support case has been opened with the switch manufacturer and Network Engineers are putting a temporary fix in place. UPDATE at 16:04 - Replacement parts should arrive during Wednesday. As a result, work will be done between 07:00 and 09:00 on Thursday to replace the failed part. There will be some downtime to offices while this takes place.
Tue 18 Nov 2008 - Network at Risk: Engineering Offices and Bowland Residences
During the 'at risk period' on the 18th November, work will be done to improve the reliability and performance of the network in the Engineering building and Bowland Residences. Work will begin at 07:00 and should be complete by 08:30. Update at 09:15 - The work in Engineering is now complete. If you are experiencing any network connectivity problems in the Engineering building please contact the ISS Service Desk on x10987.
