Majordomo mailing list service (lists.lancs.ac.uk) Maintenance

14:00-16:00: During the 'systems at risk' period on Wednesday 25th February 2009, work was carried out to move the existing mailing list service to a new system. Whilst the work is being carried out, mailing lists hosted at lists.lancs.ac.uk were unavailable.

Hallmark Postcard - Phishing Attack

An email purporting to be from 'Hallmark Postcards' with the subject line: "You've got a postcard, check it out" is being received on campus. It is a threat - do NOT click on the links. More Information

Tue 24 Feb - Network Maintenance

Environmental Science Network Maintenance

07:30-08:30 During the 'at risk period' on Tuesday 24th February work will be done in the Environmental Science building to improve the performance and reliability of the network. The work will begin at 0700 and should be complete by 0830 and will only affect offices in Environmental Science.

CANLMAN/Internet Network Maintenance

07:00-08:00: Cumbria and Lancashire Metropolitan Area Network (CANLMAN), which connects Lancaster University to the JANET network, will be undertaking one of their regular resilience fail-over tests. This will take place between 0700 and 0800. No outages are expected, though network traffic to and from the Internet may slow for a few seconds during the testing period, while routing stabilises.

Print sent to printers on 'central-print5' may be delayed. If you are experiencing a problem printing to printers on'central-print5' we suggest that you reboot your PC and try again. ISS are continuing to work on the issue.

Wed 18 Feb - New Charging Scheme For The ISS Plotter, and Print Service Maintenance

New Charging Scheme For The ISS Plotter

From 9:30am on Wednesday 18th February, printing to the ISS A0 plotter in the Library will charged for by pre-payment only. This brings the plotter charging system in line with the 'A4' charging system and will help to reduce wastage.

Print Service Maintenance

09:00-09:30: There was a short outage to the 'Central Printing Service' to allow software updates to the print service. Staff printing was unaffected. Student Printing was interrupted briefly.

The Exchange email system was temporarily unavailable, for the application of security updates, between 1PM and 3PM on Thursday 12th February. Individuals saw interruptions of service for no more than 20 minutes during this period.

Wed 11 Feb - LUVLE System Maintenance

17:00-17:15: LUVLE was unavailable for about 15 minutes from 5pm today for system updates.

Tue 10 Feb - Computer Labs in South-West campus

07:00-07:30: During the 'at risk' period on Tuesday 10th February the 3 computer labs in Alexandra Park had no networking connectivity while improvements to reliability and performance were made.

Tue 03 Feb - Email Phishing Attack

A number of emails with subject lines like 'You have exceeded the storage limit for your mailbox' have been received on-campus. These fake emails ask ('Phish') for your 'username' and 'password'. DO NOT RESPOND to these emails. ISS NEVER asks for usernames and passwords by email. More information

Sun 01 Feb - Disruption due to UPS failure

ISS services were disrupted this morning by a UPS failure overnight. ISS staff have repaired the fault and now believe that all affected services are operational once more. Please report any suspected related problems to the ISS Service Desk (x10987).
