Tue 05 May - Intermittent Internet (vi ja.net) Network problems

Lancaster University (like every other ja.net connected organisation), continued to experience intermittent connectivity problems caused by external, non-Lancaster related issues.

Many on-site users perceived these problems as "the internet is broken", or "the website is down." The real problem was that all off-site connectivity dropped, along with all services dependent upon it in real time (syndicated search on www.lancs.ac.uk) etc. Off-site users were not able to reach www.lancs.ac.uk, use the Virtual Private Network or Outlook Web Access.

JA.NET were aware of the problem and assured us they would resolve it as quickly as possible.
