Fri 28 Jan - Problems Connecting to Central Filestore (H: Drive)
A hardware fault was found to be breaking the connection to a number of folders on the central filestore has now been fixed. Users still experiencing problems connecting were asked to reboot their computer to rectify the problem

Wed 26 Jan - Core Network Diagnostic Maintenance
Diagnostic investigations on a core network device were carried out. Some users may have experienced short interruptions to network availability whilst this essential maintenance was undertaken.
All systems ran without problems.
Tue 25 Jan - Network and VOIP Telephone System upgrade
The network system and VOIP telephone system in the FASS building were upgraded to allow greater connectivity to the wider University.
All systems, including the FASS building ones mentioned ran without problems.

Mon 17 Jan - MyModules is Slow & Phish Attack
MyModules was Slow
MyModules was slow, but the other parts of LUVLE responded well. Whilst ISS worked on the issue, users were invited to open their module's LUVLE Space by going to the LUVLE home page - and follow 'More Information' - instead of using MyModules. Updates will continue to be noted in MOTD. More Information
Paypal-3D Phish Attack
New Phishing scams have been received on campus. One asks users to update their PayPal profile and password 3D Secure. The other purports to be from HM Revenue and Customs offering a payment refund in return for the users confidential details.

Wed 12 Jan - LUVLE & Exchange Email Maintenance
Parts of LUVLE were inaccessible for 30 minutes from 4pm whilst systems were updated. The Exchange email system was also temporarily unavailable between 13:00 and 17:00 to allow for the application of security updates. Exchange email system interruptions lasted no more than 30 minutes.
Tue 11 Jan - Core Network maintenance
Maintenance was performed on the core network between 07:00 and 08:30. There were approximately four outages of a few minutes each whilst this essential work was undertaken.

Tue 04 Jan - Core Network Maintenance
Maintenance was performed on the core network between 0700 and 0800 on 4th January 2011. There were multiple outages whilst the work was undertaken.
Ongoing problem - do not provide your password in emails
The University continues to experience problems from users compromising their IT accounts by providing their account details (usernames/passwords) in emails.
Never answer email requests for your password. Do NOT respond to any request for your password, even if the requesting email appears to come from a legitimate source such as ISS, the University, your Bank or the Internal Revenue.
If you have replied to an email, giving away your password, contact the ISS Service Desk without delay. More Information
New Phish Attacks
ISS are dealing with new compromised accounts on campus. Responding to emails asking for your username and password put both your work and University systems at risk.
If you wish to check whether an email is genuine, or if you believe that you may have responded to an email with your credentials or gone to a website and filled in a form for 'more quota' or similar then contact the ISS Service Desk without delay.
Skype New Version Scam
A fake email subject: "New Version Skype Has Been Released ! Upgrade Available Now" is arriving in inboxes on-campus. It is a Scam/Phishing Attack. Do NOT follow the links or make payments for plug-ins. More Information
Webmail Validate Phish Attack
A fake email subject: "Validate Your Mailbox."
