Wed 24 Aug - Exchange Server Maintenance

    Exchange Server Maintenance

    In preparation for the move to Exchange 2010, and as part of routine systems at risk period (13:00 - 15:00), the Exchange 2003 servers were rebooted.

    The work took approximately two hours, during which time individual users experienced a 20 minute period when the service was unavailable to them.

Thu 18 Aug - All systems ran without problems.

Wed 17 Aug - All systems ran without problems.

    LUVLE Updates - Service Unavailable

    LUVLE was unavailable for one hour from 15:00 whilst system updates were applied and the hardware reconfigured.

Mon 15 Aug - Network connectivity problems

    LEC II Biological Sciences Network Problem

    A network problem in the LEC building affected a small number of users until ISS networking engineers resolved the issue and restored normal service.

    George Fox Network Problems

    ISS networking engineers resolved a network connectivity problem being experienced by users in the George Fox building.
    Users continuing to experience network problems were advised to contact the ISS Service Desk.

Wed 10 Aug - Excel Files Inaccessible from Microsoft SharePoint and
Continuing ResNet Connectivity problems.

    Excel Files Inaccessible from Microsoft SharePoint

    ISS investigated and resolved a problem with Excel files, stored in Microsoft SharePoint, but being unaccessible and consequently, users attempting to access Excel files found they were unable to do so.
    To remedy the situation the SharePoint server was rebooted at 13:00 today and this solved the problem.
    Those user stil experiencing problems after this time were advised to contact the ISS Service Desk.

    Continuing ResNet Connectivity Problems

    Networking engineers are continuing to run diagnostic tests on the ResNet infrastructure in South West campus residences to determine the cause of recent connectivity problems in that area. ResNet users in that area may experience intermittent loss of service whilst tests are run.

    South West Campus Resnet

    Networking engineers ran diagnostic tests on the ResNet infrastructure in South West campus residences to determine the cause of recent connectivity problems in that area. During the testing, ResNet users in that area experienced intermittent loss of service.

    ResNet problems in South West campus

    ISS Networking engineers investigated performance problems in residences on South West campus. A fix was put in place to provide a temporary resolution. Further diagnostic work was scheduled to take place during Tuedays 'Network at Risk' period.
