Solaris Upgrade
ISS is upgrading the Interactive Unix Service (IUS) to the latest version of the Solaris operating system. Software packages such as Maple and Matlab are also being updated as part of the process. The system is almost ready for deployment and is now available for testing at the new name of ius.lancs.ac.uk
Currently printing and xdm are not available. Please try out the new system and let us know if any other software or features you would normally use are missing or not functioning correctly. Please direct all feedback through the Service Desk – iss-service-desk@lancaster.ac.uk
13/09/2010 - Going Live
It is intended to make the new system live on 13th September. At this point the name unix.lancs.ac.uk will be moved to the new system. Existing sessions on the old system will remain active, and users will still be able to use the old system if there is a valid reason to do so. However, users will be strongly encouraged to use the new system, and the old system will be switched off when we are satisfied that all software requirements are provided by the new system.
