Using printers

ISS has provided documentation covering most things you will want to do with printers.

Choosing printers from Windows. Please note that if you press the print button (in the toolbars at the top of applications such as Word) instead of following these instructions your work will be sent straight to the default printer without you being able to view the print dialog box.

From ISS PC labs

In the ISS PC Labs, if you print without choosing a particular printer, the local lab printer will be used. You can also send your work to the printers in the Library (near the ISS Service Desk) from any networked PC on campus. These are available as follows:

Please note that output sent to colour laser printers will be charged at the colour cost per A4 sheet irrespective of what is printed. Our software cannot determine if a sheet printed from a colour printer has colour on it or not so the flat rate charge is levied on all output.

From your room or office

You can also use these printers from your room or office if you have a networked computer. To do so, you must first install the printers on your PC. For details see the installation page.

Plotter Printing (A0)

Charging for use of plotter printer is the same as all other printers, prepayment in advance of printing. Therefore, unless you have sufficient printing budget you will be unable to use this printer. The charges for use of this printer are:

  • A0 - £8.00
  • A1 - £4.00
  • A2 - £2.00
The minimum time for a job to be printed is 1/2 hour, you should allow much longer than this in case there are problems or other people are using the printer.

Instructions (in PDF format), are available on printing A0 posters from Print Posters.
