Project Objective
The Campus Telephony & Voice Communications Strategy project will develop a combined strategy for the provision of voice communications for Lancaster University over the next 7 to 10 years.
Why do the project?
The current platform which powers 75% of the campus telephony has been announced 'end of life' by its manufacturer, it will become increasingly difficult to maintain over the coming 2-3 years. In order to gracefully and effectively manage the transition away from this, the work to specify the replacement systems needs to begin now.

A historical perspective of telephony at the University
How telephony supports University business and processes
Telephony can be viewed as just one aspect of a suite of integrated communications at Lancaster University. The chart below illustrates where telephony sits in relation to other communications components (for example Exchange e-mail) and how it underpins a number of applications across the University to support the business needs of essential processes and users.
