Getting Started and RegistrationGetting StartedIn order to use IT facilities at Lancaster University you must first register with the University. Registration allows ISS to protect the privacy and security of users' work and helps maintain control of who uses University IT resources. A user's authorised account is retained for the period that the user is a member of the University. The University regrets it can not provide usage of the account after graduation. For this reason, all users are encouraged to copy all work they want to keep before leaving the University. RegistrationStudentsTo use University computers you need a username and password. These control your access to University systems and protect your privacy. For this reason, you must never give your username and password to others and always remember to log off when you are finished. New usernames and passwords are distributed at the start of the academic year with Library Cards. If you have not either, go to ISS Service Desk in the Learning Zone where you will be provided with new details. (Please remember to take your Library Card as ID). On registering you will receive:

StaffStaff should contact the ISS Service Desk on 10987 to register for service. Changing PasswordsIt is a good practice to change your password from time to time. Advice on changing passwords is at Changing Passwords. Staff/Students Not RegisteredIf you wish to register to use the university computer services, please complete the application form ('Pink Form') and take it to the ISS Service Desk. The Pink Form must be signed by the applicant themselves, confirmed by the appropriate Head of Department or Departmental IT Representative, and authorised by the ISS Head of User Services. | ||||||
