How to: Create a connection to University VPN using Windows 7 or Windows Vista

Testing

To test that your VPN link is fully working, do the following:

  1. start Internet Explorer.
  2. type: www.lancs.ac.uk/iss/remote/test/ - you should see a 'Congratulations...' page.
  3. www.google.com - see Google, you are now browsing the Internet over VPN through the University.

Home Pages

You can set your home page on Internet Explorer (or Mozilla Firefox):

  • OffCampus Home - for University news and links for students. You can set 'OffCampus Home' as your home page in your web browser.
  • Home Working - for University news and links for staff. You can set 'Home Working' as your home page in your web browser.
