The Internet is a Dangerous Place
Threats to our computer security come in many forms. With so many 'student computers' on the University network, everybody has to protect themselves from virus attack and other methods of ID theft. Worms, Viruses and infect websites can drop Trojans on your computer which may do one or more of the following:
- steal your passwords (ID Theft).
- forward Spam to other computers (Spam Relay).
- allow your computer to be used to attack other computers (BotNet).
Social Networks (e.g. Facebook) can be used to:
- gather personal information and steal your identity.
- damage your reputation.
