You can now view high quality streaming media on the Lancaster University network from any PC on campus using a freely available player known as VLC. The VLC player is now installed in ISS PC Labs and teaching spaces and is also available as a 'Published' application to managed machines.
Lancaster University VLC
Introduction
VLC is a portable multimedia player that will play almost any file format given to it. It includes support for use with a number of audio and video formats such as MPEG1, MPEG2, DivX, DVDs and various streaming protocols. It is available for Microsoft Windows, Apple MAC and Linux platforms.
This VLC Client is freely available for download and use by members of Lancaster University.
Installation
The latest packaged version of VLC is available for installation here.
LUTV Streaming Channel
If you have installed the Lancaster University VLC package above, you can simply click on the LUTV Streaming Channel for live events. Also check the Digital Broadcasts link in the middle column for Live Event broadcasts.
