Windows Mobile v6 Nokia Phones
Push Email
The 'Push Email' feature enables mobile devices to receive email on the device shortly after the mail is received in your inbox. Full 'push email' from the University Exchange server is currently available using:
- Windows Mobile v6 - all mobile phones (& other mobile devices) running Windows Mobile v6.
- Nokia E-series mobile phones.
Note - there are no plans to make Push Email from 'Blackberries' to the University Exchange server available.
Non-push Email
Non-push email using 'IMAP' is available on a wide range of devices (including Blackberries).
Windows Mobile v6
Push email is available on mobile phones, Pocket PCs and PDAs from any manufacturer that runs under Windows Mobile v6 (Standard or Professional).
Configuring Your Windows Mobile Device
A wizard will guide you through the connection process of configuring your mobile device to access the University Exchange email server. In order to connect you will need to enter the following data in the appropriate boxes:
- Exchange Server: exchange.lancs.ac.uk
- Username: (your standard Windows network username)
- Password: (your password)
Note - by default a limited amount of services and data is synchronised.
Nokia E-series Mobile Phones
All Nokia E-series mobile phones are capable of receiving Push Email from the University Exchange server.
The Nokia E71 is specifically supported under the ISS SmartPhone Service.
