Installing Symantec AntiVirus 10.2 on Windows Vista from the Network
There are 32bit and 64bit versions of SAV 10.2 available to install from the network. If you are uncertain which version is applicable to you, choose the 32bit option. If you have 64bit Windows Vista, you will know that you have got it. Also, reassuringly, if you choose the wrong version it fails 'gracefully' without doing any damage.
Compatibility Notes - Windows XP users should use SAV 10.1.
What You NEED:
- You MUST be in an Office On-Campus - the Network install does:
- NOT work on ResNet.
- NOT work on WiNet.
- NOT work Off-Campus - with or without VPN.
- Ensure you logon as a user with 'Admin' rights - if you have user rights - call ISS Service Desk.
- You must have at least 80 Mbytes of Hard Disk free to install, and 50Mbytes of Hard Disk free to run.
- before proceeding, backup your data that resides on your hard disk.
- Important Note - uninstall ALL existing anti-virus software.
Off-campus users need a CD which is available from the ISS Service Desk in the Library.

Updating Virus Definitions
Your installation of Symantec AntiVirus 10.2 is only as good as your last Virus Definition Update. Symantec AntiVirus 10.1 has the latest virus definition 'pushed' automatically onto the PC from a central server. No intervention is required by users of network Installed PCs.
