Symantec Endpoint Protection 11 - Install SEP
Introduction Install Virus Definitions PC labs Running SEP *SEP UPGRADE*
Installing SEP 11 from the Network
If you do NOT have a network connection (see What You NEED section below) you can install SEP 11 from CD.
There are 32bit and 64bit versions of SEP 11 available to install from the network. If you are uncertain which version is applicable to you, choose the 32bit option. If you choose the wrong version the install process fails 'gracefully' without doing any damage.
What You NEED:
- a network connection:
- Office - ideal.
- ResNet - good.
- WiNet - will work subject to the wireless connection providing enough 'bandwidth'.
- VPN - will work subject to your ISP connection providing enough 'bandwidth'.
- ISP - if you connecting from home without using VPN it will NOT work. You can pick up a CD from the ISS Service Desk in the Learning Zone.
- Ensure you logon as a user with 'Admin' rights - if you have user rights - call ISS Service Desk.
- You must have at least 80 Mbytes of Hard Disk free to install, and 50Mbytes of Hard Disk free to run.
- before proceeding, backup your data that resides on your hard disk.
- Important Note - uninstall ALL existing anti-virus software.
