VLC Media Player (VLC)
You can now view high quality streaming media on the Lancaster University network from any PC on campus using the freely available VLC player.The VLC player is installed in ISS PC Labs and teaching spaces and is available as a 'Published' application on managed PCs.
Lancaster University VLC - Introduction
VLC is a portable multimedia player that will play almost any file format given to it. It includes support for use with a number of audio and video formats such as MPEG1, MPEG2, DivX, DVDs and various streaming protocols. It is available on Microsoft Windows, Apple and Linux platforms.
This VLC Client is freely available for download and use by members of Lancaster University and should be used to view LUTV webcasting events originating at Lancaster University.
Installation
The latest packaged version of VLC is available for installation here.
To receive the LUTV Streaming Channel simply run the VLC media player, open the "File" menu and select the "Open Network Stream" menu item.
- Select UDP/RTP Multicast. Enter 239.0.3.100 in the "Address" text input box, and change the UDP port to 2001 (as per the image below).
- Click on OK.
- You should now be receiving the LUTV Streaming Channel.

Having installed the Lancaster University VLC package above, you can simply click on the LUTV Streaming Channel for live graduation ceremonies and other events.
