When making fault reports to ISS Service Desk, the 'computer name' is required.
This page shows you how to find your 'computer name.

Find Your Computer Name
When you report a fault you are asked to include your 'computer name', this page describs how to find your computer name on:
- Managed XP PC - most PCs on-campus (including PC Labs).
- Unmanaged PCs - e.g. Win 2000, Win Vista and off campus Win XP PCs.

Managed XP PCs
To discover details of your Managed XP PC:
- double click on the PCInfo on your desktop.
- see PCInfo screen appear as illustrated below.
More detailed information can be obtained by clicking the 'View' menu then one of the 'Advanced...' options.

Unmanaged XP PCs
To discover the computer name of an Unmanaged Win XP computer:
- click 'Start' button.
- right click on the ''My Computer' option - see 'System Properties' dialog.
- click on the 'Computer Name' tab.
- next to 'Full computer name:' read the computer name.
