Find Your Computer Name

When you report a fault you are asked to include your 'computer name', this page describs how to find your computer name on:

Managed XP PCs 

To discover details of your Managed XP PC:

  • double click on the PCInfo on your desktop.
  • see PCInfo screen appear as illustrated below.

More detailed information can be obtained by clicking the 'View' menu then one of the 'Advanced...' options.

Unmanaged XP PCs 

To discover the computer name of an Unmanaged Win XP computer:

  1. click 'Start' button.
  2. right click on the ''My Computer' option - see 'System Properties' dialog.
  3. click on the 'Computer Name' tab.
  4. next to 'Full computer name:' read the computer name.

The significant part is the first section e.g. bob123a00001
