Translation as Creative-Critical Practice (CUP, 2023)

Dr Delphine Grass has been invited as guest speaker to the Centre for Research in the Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences (CRASSH) at the University of Cambridge and to Queen Mary University to talk about her new book Translation as Creative-Critical Practice.

Dr Grass is the guest speaker of the Expanded Librarian symposium and exhibition launch on Saturday the 9th of March at the Centre for Research in the Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences (CRASSH) at the University of Cambridge. Her talk, based on her recent book Translation as Creative-Critical Practice (CUP, 2023), is entitled ‘Translation as Intermedial Practice: Shaping Planetary Thinking Beyond Words’. Her presentation will explore the role of intermediality in creative-critical translation practices. The talk will discuss how intermedial translations push the boundaries of what we understand as language in transcultural and multispecies contexts, and their role in reimagining planetary communities beyond human language.

Dr Grass is also invited to speak with MA Translation students at Queen Mary University on the 11th of March.

Her book Translation as Creative-Critical Practice is gaining recognition across the fields of translation studies, art practice and creative-critical writing. In December 2023, Dr Grass was also invited to present her book at a research-creation seminar at the University of Paris VIII and in January, she was invited to give a talk alongside Prof. Douglas Robinson at the Experiential Translation Network.
