Why did you choose to study at LUMS?

LUMS is one of the best management schools in the country and is highly rated in the industry.

What was the best thing about your course?

The best thing about my course was meeting such a diverse group of people from all around the world. We have become one big family, spanning from China to Germany. The lecturers were extremely supportive both with academic life and finding opportunities within the industry.

What/who inspired you most at LUMS and why?

The people on my course inspired me. It was amazing to work with such a diverse team, understanding different working methods and drawing from our diverse backgrounds.

Did you do a project, placement or study abroad? What did this involve and what did you gain?

I did a research project with KPMG. This was in data-driven decision making. I gained some great contacts within the technology and consultancy industry, who were really helpful and gave some interesting perspectives on the topic.

Describe your time at LUMS in three words.

Supportive and inspiring.

What are your best memories of your time at Lancaster?

I did my undergraduate degree at Lancaster in a completely different subject to my MSc. I studied a BA (Hons) in English literature. Before pursuing the MSc I got the opportunity to spend time in Malaysia for three weeks at our partnership university Sunway. This was a highlight of my Lancaster journey. I got to meet some incredible people who are all part of the Lancaster university family. We got to swim with sharks, turtles, volunteer at local charities, teach English and stay in a rural homestay learning how to fly kites and fish with our hands.

What are the best things about living in the Lancaster area?

Lancaster is a beautiful place! The scenery is amazing and you can always be sure to catch a great sunset! It’s so close to the Lake District and one thing I definitely miss is being able to jump on a quick train to go hiking on the weekend!

What impact did scholarships or funding have on your degree experience?

I was awarded a scholarship for being a woman in technology. This was great as an MSc is self-funded.

Which parts of your Lancaster experience were the best preparation for your job?

My MSc modules were extremely relevant to the career that I am in today. For instance, understanding AI, Blockchain, Design thinking, cybersecurity and business strategy are all modules that have really helped in preparation for my job.

Is there anything else about your LUMS experience that you'd like to share with us?

LUMS has been a wonderful experience and I have made friends for life. It has really given me a solid foundation before entering the working world.
