Resource no: 62: General Criteria for Workshop Delivery (Liverpool Hope University)

F 0-39 Work in this category will be very weak showing an inadequate appreciation of what is required for the examination.  A few aspects of the workshop might show some degree of attainment but these will be outweighed by work which is inappropriate and/or underprepared.

E  40-44 Bare pass.  Shows evidence of thought about structure, theme and activity.  However the workshop will reveal limited understanding and the activities will lack a supporting structure.  There will, however, be a clear effort to succeed.

D 45-49 Work in this category will be competent in some respects but will be significantly flawed in some aspects.  The workshop may be unfocused, or at an inappropriate level, or may show evidence of a lack of understanding of material.  The workshop leader may display inadequate skill in controlling the group, in structuring group tasks or conveying clear information.  There will be some effective moments in the workshop but examiners will be generally aware of a lack of success.

C 50-59 Work in this category will be sound and mainly competent, showing evidence of adequate understanding, skill and attention to detail.  Workshops in this range may seem rather pedestrian or mechanical, revealing only some ability to structure activity to achieve the desired aims.  Examiners will be aware that adequate work has been done and may have a sense of limited candidates producing sincere or vigorous work or of able candidates remaining within an easy level of competence.  The workshop will be adequate.

B 60--69 Work in this category will be detailed and impressive but will lack a completely satisfactory integration.  The workshop will show attention to detail, effective leadership and some ease in the role.  Many aspects of this work will be admirable but examiners will be aware of incomplete success in structuring activity to achieve the desired aims.  The workshop will be highly creditable but there wil be a lack of precision and polish which characterises the higher category.

A 70-100 Work in this category will exhibit a sustained excellence.  It will show an integration of intention, structure and content.  There will be evidence of attention to detail and good control of the activities of the workshop.  The workshop leader will display sustained ease in organising activity, conveying information and relating to participants.  Examiners will have a sense of professional competence that goes beyond the recognition of work done to meet examination requirements.
