F 0-39 Unsatisfactory, little or no evidence of preparation , analytic or evaluative skills. Little or no understanding of material or ability to structure or present material.
E 40-44 Bare pass; shows evidence of relevant material, shows limited understanding but lacks a structured argument, material not well organised.
D 45-49 Argument obscure, weak or badly one-sided. Shows limited understanding. Attempts to structure argument.
C 50-59 A competent piece which shows understanding of material and presents it satisfactorily. There is a coherent argument with an adequate conclusion. Argues well and effectively and shows some evidence of evaluative/critical skills.
B 60-69 Shows a firm grasp of material and contextualises it, has good research and presentation skills, argues well and effectively, is able to criticise and evaluate material.
A 70-100 High level of understanding of material and contextualises
it well, shows ease in the handling of ideas/theories/concepts; communicates
clearly and effectively, shows insight and perceptiveness, a well-developed
critical faculty and good judgement. Research and presentation skills
of a very high order.
NOTE: failure to submit an appropriate bibliography may lead to a deduction
of 10% of the marks available for any written assignment.
