Brief Information
I am a first year PhD student (started in October 1, 2012) in CHICAS, Lancaster Medical School. I am studying
on a Statistics and Epidemiology PhD, with Prof. Peter Diggle. In my first year, I have concentrated on longitudinal and
survival statistical methods, with applications in the biomedical and health sciences. My studies are financially supported by a full time research studentship at the
overseas level, based on the Health e-Research Centre (HeRC) funded by the Medical Research Council (MRC), UK.
Prior to my PhD studies, I obtained an MSc degree (in July 20, 2012) in Statistics from the Department of Statistics of Middle East Technical University, Turkey.
I spent three years in this place as a research and teaching assistant (September 2, 2009 - October 30, 2012).
Research Interests
- Analyses of longitudinal, survival, time series, spatial and spatio-temporal data
- Exploratory data analysis, diagnostic tools and model selection
- Statistical computing in R (see the information for my R packages below)
- Statistics for epidemiology, e.g., developing dynamic time series models for real time monitoring of acute kidney injury
- Philosophy, probability and statistics
