General Information

The Press Officer is responsible for the University's media relations function which includes the publicising of research, news and events, monitoring media coverage and acting as a contact for media enquiries.

The Press Office has a sound-proof radio booth which enables staff and students to take part in radio interviews at their convenience. This facility is promoted to national and local media stations and is a good method of promoting individual work as well as the University generally.

The Press Office publishes an online directory of experts for media contacts. Anyone wishing to be included can e-mail the Press Officer giving contact numbers and research areas and topics on which you would be willing to comment.

The Press Officer also edits the online weekly bulletin, LU TEXT and the online University newsletter LU News.

Other publications produced in the Press Office include the Annual Report and some promotional brochures.

The Press Office maintains a 'What's On?' directory of university events on the Web. Anyone wanting to have an event included in should contact Laura Mitchell on ext. 92103.

The Press Officer is also available for advice on media matters and can provide media training courses
