Research Interests

Having obtained her first degree in English literature, Mary trained as a nurse at the Middlesex Hospital in London.She spent many years working in the NHS in a variety of cancer and palliative care posts before undertaking her PhD, a grounded theory study of nurses' personal involvement in relationships with cancer patients, which she was awarded in 2001from King's College London. Since 2007 she has been a Research Fellow in the International Observatory on End of Life Care,and has workedon a range of hospice and end of life care projects.
