chancellor's wharf:

our place in the city...

Chancellor's Wharf is the only city centre accommodation owned and managed by Lancaster University. It sits on the banks of the Lancaster Canal opposite the Water Witch pub, and is just a two minute walk from the bus stops at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary. You can get pretty much anywhere in Lancaster - on foot - in about ten minutes.

The three buildings, constructed in 1994, contain 242 bedrooms in cluster flats of around 4-8. All are classed as 'standard' accommodation with shared kitchen and bathroom facilities. The complex was fully refurbished in the summers of 2010 and 2011. Each one has its own common room on the top floor, complete with pool tables and lounge seating.

Chancellor's Wharf houses undergraduates from all colleges, as well as postgraduates. After your first year on the main University campus (only a short and convenient bus ride away) you are welcome to apply to live at Chancellor's. You can apply to live in groups of friends in the same way can can apply to live on campus as a continuer, and with Chancellor's Wharf you can have a look round before you apply. The open day is on 30 November, from 13:00-16:00.

All the facilities you have come to expect are on offer, including night time security and a dedicated accommodation manager, rent inclusive of utility bills, access to the University network and high speed internet. It gives you the opportunity to move into the city centre, but keep the reassurance of university managed accommodation.

the cost of an upgraded standard room for 2012/13 is £92.75 per week, on a 40 week let. The rental figure for 2013/14 is set at £96.60 and awaiting official confirmation.
