still award winning!

We're extremely pleased to be able to announce that we have retained the title of Best University Halls for 2011 in the National Student Housing Survey.

The annual survey engages with students from over 120 UK institutions, and over 15,000 respondents took part this year.

In addition to retaining our title of best halls, Lancaster also took 'Best Learning Environment' and 'Best Individual Accommodation' for the Grizedale Townhouses, adding to an already healthy haul for our newest and greenest accommodation.

We have also been given the award for 'Best Booking Experience'.

In addition to taking home four of the eight main awards on offer, we are also able to boast an International Accommodation Quality Mark, for achieving over 90% satisfaction among our International students. We were one of only five institutions to be awarded this mark.

There were a number of areas where Lancaster far exceeded the national average, including the following:

Value for money

The national average rating for students believing they get value for money was 54%. In Lancaster, 70% of students felt they were getting good value.

Neighbourhood safety

Nationally 77% felt that their neighbourhood was a safe environment to live in. At Lancaster it was 97%, and a tribute to our on-site security and campus location.

Relationship with landlord

Nationally 57% of students felt that they had a good relationship with their landlord. At Lancaster the figure was 78%. Each of our colleges has its own locally based Residence Officer, a service much appreciated by our students.

We also exceeded your expectations in areas such as communications, recycling, noise levels and local amenities, amongst others. If you voted in the survey, thanks for your support. If you're joining us in 2011, we look forward to welcoming you!
