Lancaster Career Mentoring Scheme
Connect with the world of work with your very own mentor!
The Lancaster Career Mentoring Scheme gives you an opportunity to spend time with a working professional, getting an insight into what they do and ask questions to help you analyse what you want to do with your future.
Career mentoring might include chatting with your mentor over a coffee to find out about their job hunting tips; skills development ideas or applications and interviews advice. They may even let you attend meetings or events with them to get an insight into their work
Is it for me?
The scheme is available to any student of any degree scheme who is currently enrolled at Lancaster University who has completed at least one year of study.
The characteristics of a good mentee include:
• Openness to new ideas, suggestions and feedback.
• Willingness to have a go and try out different things.
• Commitment to self-development and achievement of career goals.
• Ability to give and receive constructive and honest feedback.
• Skill in good organisation and time management.
• Willingness to take the initiative, communicate needs, desires and expectations.
The scheme is designed to be flexible for both mentors and mentees but you will need to commit at least 16 hours in total during the mentoring period (mid-November to May).

How do I sign up?
To apply to become a mentee on the 2012/13 programme please complete the application form on the link below. The matching process takes place over the summer vacation and you will be informed in October via email if a successful match has been made.
Students (mentees)
Student applications will be accepted from Monday 11th June to Friday 22nd June.
