INFORMATION:
Resource Room
Open 9.00 a.m. - 5.00 p.m. Monday - Friday, this is where you will find our Information Staff, who are always available to guide you around our extensive careers information resources. Assured of a warm welcome, you do not need an appointment to come in and speak with them.
The Information Resource Room houses a comprehensive range of files, reference books, videos and DVDs, and includes information on occupations, making effective job applications, job vacancies, going for job interviews, and postgraduate courses and funding.
Vacancies
We have a dedicated Employer Services Team, responsible for recording and making vacancies accessible to students. This information is also available at http://www.jobs.lancs.ac.uk. Where available, hard copy employers' literature is filed in the Information Resource Room.
Takeaway Materials
We receive multiple copies of many publications dealing with a wide range of occupational areas, free for you to take away, whilst stocks last.
Free takeaway directories providing details of employers are available each year to finalists, whilst stocks last. You can also collect spare copies of employers' brochures and application forms, where available.
When stocks have run out, you will be referred to the reference copy.
EXPLORATION:

This is a computer program designed to help you in your career planning. It can be used to test out ideas or help make decisions, but most students use Prospects Planner to generate ideas or follow up vague thoughts. It is available on all the computers in the Information Resource Room, or at: http://www.prospects.ac.uk/planner.

Held alongside the Career Opportunities Fair, this part of the event takes place in the Nuffield Theatre, and offers students the opportunity to find voluntary or vacation work, internships, or longer placements.
