2011 entry - Government funding delayed?
The Student Loan Company(SLC) expects that all students who applied by the due deadline and supplied complete paperwork will have student funding processed by the start of term. For students who applied after the deadline or supplied incomplete applications, there may be a delay in completing full assessment until after the start of term.
Students who find their Undergraduate Government student funding has been delayed will still be able to take up booked accommodation and enrol without any difficulty.
To relieve any immediate financial difficulty the SLC is releasing the non-means tested part of student maintenance loans (as normal within 3-4 days following the normal attendance confirmation report from Universities) even if full means testing has not been completed. This means that students should have enough for essential living costs for a couple of months, pending full assessment.
Student Funding Service staff will work with students, using advisor telephone numbers, to chase student funding which is significantly delayed.
If you do not receive your Government support and have no other parental support available then emergency loans for essential costs (food and travel) are available from the Student Funding Service, c/o The Base, A-Floor, University House or telephone 01524 592525 to make an advisor appointment.
For students who have had funding assessments completed and all paperwork through the process is as below.
