Professor Peter Ratoff will become the new Head of the Physics Department from August 2006. Professor Barbara Maher and Professor Tom Ormerod will continue as HoD for Geography and Psychology respectively. Barbara will continue in post for a further year until July 2007 and Tom until 2009. It has also been agreed that Professor Gordon Blair will continue as HoD for Computing for a further two years until July 2008.
Recently the Future and Emerging Technologies Unit of the IST Priority completed a Forward Look to help develop its workprogramme in FP7. This was co-ordinated by the French organisation ERCIM under the co-ordination action "BEYOND-THE-HORIZON" Areas covered by the Forward Look are:

The prestigious Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship plan provides postgraduate study opportunities for British students with high academic promise and leadership potential in their respective fields. The awards are tenable from February 2007. All are fully funded, although restrictions on length apply in some cases.
