SUMMARY:Assessing the Impact of Climate Change and Intensive Human Activities on China's Agro-Ecosystem
DESCRIPTION:Abstract: Climate models have projected that climate change will become progressively more severe in this century, with significant impacts on agriculture. This presentation reports the research achievements of a NSFC-IIASA project on the potential for adaptation of Chinese agriculture to climate change. \n\nSpeaker: Laixiang Sun is Chair Professor and Head of Department at Department of Financial and Management Studies, SOAS, University of London. He is an Academician of the Academy of Social Sciences. He is also an adjunct professor at University of Maryland and a research professor at Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research (IGSNRR) in China Academy of Sciences. Affiliated with International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA) in Laxenburg, Austria, and Guanghua School of Management in Peking University, Beijing, China, he is the author of more than 90 research publications spanning the areas of corporate finance, corporate governance, comparative economics, business management, integrated modelling, ecology, agriculture, and environment.\n\nRefreshments from 1.15pm before the event.
