SUMMARY:21st Human Computer Interaction Conference
DESCRIPTION:Lancaster is hosting the 21st Annual British Human-Computer Interaction Conference on 3rd-7th Sept.\n\nThis is one of the longest running and most high profile events in usability, user interface design and all matters about the relation of people to technology. The conference will bring together academics and practitioners from the UK and across the world.\n\nThe conference includes a number of tutorials and workshops on Monday and Tuesday (3rd - 4th Sept) followed by the main conference.\n\nThursday (6th Sept.) will have a practitioner focus, including a keynote by usability and user experience guru Jarad Spool. \n\nThe KBC is sponsoring the conference to promote knowledge transfer in this area and there are a number of special ways in which Associate Companies and ICT Cluster members can benefit from the conference:\n\nOn Wednesday evening (18:30, 5th Sept.) there is a free welcome reception in InfoLab21. This is a superb opportunity for SMEs to network with peers from across industry, as well as with academics in the field of HCI. On Thursday (3:45, 6th Sept.) there is a free careers/recruitment event that would allow your access to the best students and graduates working in the HCI field.Cluster members can attend the practitioner day for £50 (includes lunch and refreshments) instead of the normal day rate of £260.\n\nTo register interest in these events, please contact Amanda Ross a.ross@lancaster.ac.uk\n\nIf you would like to attend the whole conference or any tutorials or workshops, you can do so at reduced 'member' rates. For this just use the conference registration system (on the web site www.hci2007.org), on the registration form tick "BCS member" and when asked for the membership number enter "KBC Cluster".
