SUMMARY:National Demonstration Test Catchment (DTC) Launch Meeting
DESCRIPTION:DAY ONE Thursday 16th September\nTHE NATIONAL PROGRAMME \n\n10.45am: Coach departs from Lancaster House Hotel.\n\n12.00-1.00pm: Arrive at Newton Rigg, lunch is provided in The Eden Room of the Conference Centre.\n\n1.00-3.00pm: DTC talks and discussion in conference room at Newton Rigg chaired by Prof Bob Harris from Defra, the DTC Secretary including. \n\n\nDan McGonigle and Bob Harris to present and put the DTC Project into the Policy setting; stating the objectives and approach (25 mins)\n\nMatt Crump (Environment Manager, North Area of North West Region) will present about national EA interests and links to DTC (WFD delivery, CSF etc) (20 mins)\n\nEach of the 3 DTCs will make short presentations from the 3 consortia experiences and issues related to building the DTC (from members of the teams, not DTC leaders, individual perspectives) (10 mins x 3 consortia)\n\nA general interactive discussion will also focus around each of the three objectives \nEvidence base for farm/water quality link\nResearch platform\nIntegrated catchment management; teasing out people's concerns and issues and testing how much we can do in DTC in reality and how much we need to get others to work on with us (or use other people's money)\n\n\n\n\n3.00-3.30pm: Coffee break.\n\n3.30-5.30pm: Tour around Newton Rigg demo farm led by Elspeth Lees and the Eden DTC Team.\n\n A two-part tour looking at Demonstration/Engagement and Instrumentation/Mitigation\n\n5.30pm: Return to conference centre for transport back to Lancaster, arrival ca 6.30pm.\n\n7.30pm: Meet for drinks in the Bar at Lancaster House Hotel, dinner from 8pm in the Dalton Suite.\n\n\nDAY TWO Friday 17th September\nINTERNATIONAL PERSEPECTIVES ON DEMONSTRATION TEST CATCHMENTS \n\nIn the LEC Training Rooms, Environment Centre, Lancaster University \n\n9.10-9.15am: Welcome and introduction by chair Phil Haygarth (Eden Consortium). All presentations in this morning session will be 20 minutes with 10 minutes for discussion time.\n\nPerspectives from the Irish DAFF Agricultural Mini-Catchment Programme\n\n9.15-9.45am: Presentation by Phil Jordan\n"Overview and experimental design"\n\n9.45-10.15am: Presentation by David Wall\n"Nutrient source compliance"\n\n10.15-10.45am: Presentation by Per-Erik Mellander\n"Consideration of pathways"\n\n10.45-11.15am: Coffee break.\n\n11.15-11.45am: Presentation by Alice Melland\n"Nutrient delivery and aquatic ecology"\n\nPerspective from Scotland\n\n11.45-12.15pm: M.
