SUMMARY:Feedstocks and Technologies for Energy from Waste Schemes
DESCRIPTION:The potential for growth in the UK EfW sector is significant. If new schemes are to be successfully developed and operated, it is essential that those involved have a thorough grounding in the principles of energy recovery from waste, an awareness of available technologies, and the ability to make informed, evidence base decisions.\n\nThe first of two one-day courses, this instalment addresses these issues by providing delegates with a thorough grounding in the theoretical and practical aspects of energy from waste schemes, and will include:\n\nAn overview of technologies and techniques for generating energy and fuels from waste\nAn introduction to the key incentives for EfW plants and how they relate to technologies and fuels\nAn introduction to, and hands-on experience of the WRATE tool for environmental assessment of different technology options\nAn introduction to heat and power theory - maximizing energy recovery from a waste feedstock\nGCV, NCV, and the impact of moisture on conversion efficiency\nHow to calculate a first estimate of energy yield for a given feedstock\nUnderstanding Sankey diagrams\nAn introduction to the theory of anaerobic digestion (AD)\nFeedstocks, products and wastes from AD\nAn overview of the PAS110 protocol for AD digestate\nAn overview of the key architecture of standard and advanced thermal technologies for energy recovery from waste\nAn introduction to how EfW plants are designed to comply with environmental regulation\n\n\nMore information and a registration form can be found here.
