SUMMARY:Leading on Sustainability - preparing future leaders for business in the 21st Century
DESCRIPTION:Leading on Sustainability is an innovative new programme developed by Business in the Community in partnership with Lancaster University Management School to support organisations in the North West. The programme is designed to prepare future leaders for business in the 21st Century, with a focus on environmental issues such as resource efficiency, energy security and climate change. Businesses that thrive in the future will be those that effectively address these challenges.\n \nWe are delighted to invite you to be part of the first group to undertake this programme, starting with a two day workshop on 25th and 26th February 2010. This will be followed by four one day workshops at venues across the North West, with the final session taking place on 15th September. Participants will also join Lancaster University's Virtual Leadership for Sustainability Learning Network. \n \nThe programme will explore the science, politics and business challenges of sustainability, leadership for change and innovation, systemic thinking for complex issues and action learning as a leadership approach. Live case studies of organisations integrating sustainability into policies and practices and a focus on real issues within participants' work places will help ensure that the programme is practical and relevant. \n \nWe are extremely pleased to be able to offer this inaugural programme at the significantly discounted rate of £775 per person due support from Lancaster University's Higher Education Innovation programme. Further bursaries are available for SMEs and non-profit organisations.\n \nWe are confident that this will prove to be an exciting and rewarding programme that will deliver business and personal benefits and we hope that you are able to take part. If you think this would be of interest to other people in your organisation it would be appreciated if you could pass it on. I am attaching a leaflet with further information and an application form. \n\nFor more information contact Gudrun Cartwright on 01612 337 772
