SUMMARY:Brunch Bytes: IPTV and 2nd Screen, The Future of Broadcasting
DESCRIPTION:The fourth Daresbury briefing in our new series of "Brunch Bytes". #bbytes\n\nAs high speed broadband becomes more widely available, so does IPTV. As technologies change and merge, IPTV is becoming more mainstream in society. The number of global IPTV subscribers is expected to grow from 28 million in 2009 to 83 million in 2013.\n\nThis workhop will explain how and why people and companies are sending television programmes over IP data networks. You will discover how global television services are already available through broadband networks such as the internet and the differences between managed and over-the-top (OTT) services and service providers. The session will include brief overviews of key technologies, current trends and hot topics for this fast paced industry as well as some demonstrations of IPTV services. \n\nWhy attend and what will you get out of it?\n\nDiscover new opportunties that are being developed through IPTVConsider how use of a second screen could impact industry and businessUncover ways to exploit IPTV and second screen within your businessBecome aware of market trends and plan ahead to stay on top of the game\n\n\nNB. To be eligible to attend this free event you should be from a northwest SME from the digital and creative sector.\n\nBrunch Bytes\n\nBrunch Bytes is a series of briefings rather than stand alone events. It is designed to allow delegates to register for a programme of four briefings over the next two years (from a choice of 8-10). This is a free scheme which will run until the end of 2012, enabling delegates to choose topics which are appropriate to their business.\n\nThe briefings will be run on a quarterly basis with 2 series running in tandem at Lancaster University and Daresbury Science and Innovation Campus.\n\nISTEP at InfoLab21\n\nThis event is supported by InfoLab21 as part of ISTEP's regional events programme.\n\nAbout ISTEP\n\nISTEP is a project designed to indentify and support interactions between the North West's Digital and Creative industries and InfoLab21's School of Computing and Communications, directly helping businesses to collaborate with the 270+ strong research community at InfoLab21.ISTEP is delivered under the "Innovation, Advice and Guidance" product, part of the Government's Solutions for Business portfolio, a highly targeted, publically funded suit of products and services offering solutions to real business needs.\nRegistration\n\nFor more information and to regsiter please go to the link below or the button at the top of the page.
