Demonstration Test Catchments
A joint SWIG & EdenDTC Meeting
Wednesday 23 March 2011
Fellside Conference Centre, Newton Rigg Campus, University Of Cumbria, Penrith, CA11 0AH
This meeting will comprise a morning of presentations and practical demonstrations, followed after lunch by a field tour of the EdenDTC Newton Rigg Demonstration Farm Platform.
The River Eden Demonstration Test Catchments (EdenDTC) project is developing a large-scale research platform to test measures for reducing diffuse pollution from agriculture.
It started in spring 2010 and will consider the impacts and effects on both ecosystems and sustainable production over a four year period. This workshop provides an introduction to the EdenDTC, detailing the research platform and hardware that captures real time evidence, to understand the interaction of land use with water and, hence, develop improved and more sustainable approaches to farm management and catchment.
Discussions, supported by GIS and laboratory demonstration sessions, will reveal the monitoring capability and we will hear how monitoring from the air can provide invaluable data to compliment waterbased measurements.
