Dr. José Macías is currently Head of Process Engineering Department at an Oil Refinery based in Tenerife and Associate Professor in Chemical Engineering at the University of La Laguna, Canary Islands.
He has 20 plus years of experience in both industry and academia. In the Refinery, he has being responsible for the design and commissioning of advanced control applications using Multivariable Predictive Control and Expert Systems Applications for Operators guidance.
In the university he is responsible for the tuition of Simulation and Optimization of Chemical engineering Processes and Petroleum Technology subjects.
He has given several in-house advanced control courses using rigorous dynamic simulation. He is founder of an engineering company dedicates to programming, simulation and control in chemical engineering.
His research interest is mainly dedicated to the fields of soft sensors and chemical engineering optimisation.
