Faculty Support for Conferences in Science and Technology
The Faculty of Science and Technology wishes to actively support its stated key strategic research targets, in particular to increase internationalisation, build capacity to bid for large research projects, improve the standing of our research UoAs within the UK, and increase the impact and visibility of our research both nationally and internationally.
To facilitate the above, the Faculty will provide support for up to £1,000 per conference within its research portfolio organised by Lancaster University staff and run at Lancaster. The conference may be bespoke or part of an ongoing series. The conference must be international and demonstrably high impact in terms of research. There is a strong preference for intra-Faculty participation.
Applications will be competitively assessed by the Faculty Research Committee and should be no longer than one side of A4 and describe:
- The conference and its relevance to the Faculty's research portfolio
- Impact of hosting the conference at Lancaster
- Visibility of the Faculty's research activities
- All expected sources of income
- Specific purpose of Faculty financial support
- The number of attendees and their nationalities
- REF deliverable(s)
The successful events will be required to display the Science and Technology at Lancaster logo prominently along with other sponsor logos on all relevant materials.
Following the lead of "The first annual Lancaster Sci-Tech Research Conference" (Food Security and Safety, 2010), subsequent conferences should be badged similarly as "The Science and Technology Research Conference at Lancaster".
The event organiser shall report within 6 months of conference completion on the bullet points above.
