Science and Technology Teaching Grants
Guidelines
Teaching Development funds will be given to activities which enhance the teaching reputation of the faculty at either an undergraduate or postgraduate level.
Teaching Grants are available to cover attendance at teaching conferences or to 'buy out' staff time to allow capacity for teaching developments. Awards will be made on the basis of the following maxima:
- £250 for attendance at teaching conferences
- £500 if presenting at teaching conferences
- £3,000 to buy out time for teaching development
Grants are available to academic staff across the faculty. Funds will be allocated on a first come, first served basis, and will be solely given to the applicants for the purpose stated. Any change in who will receive the award or in its use must be agreed by the Dean before transferring funds.
You may only apply for one grant per academic year, and preference will be given to those who did not receive money in the previous year. Please submit your application at least four weeks before the proposed activity is due to start. Retrospective applications are not normally considered.
As applicants may not receive the full sum requested, please let the faculty office know if you are unable to undertake the proposed activity so that funds may be reallocated.
Grant recipients must submit a written report of approximately 500 words (and receipts to their Departmental Finance Office) within four weeks of return to Lancaster or ending the activity. Failure to do so without good reason will result in the withdrawal of funds.
