LEC research shows effects of World War Two bombing raids on weather
US B-17 bombers with contrails during World War 2
Collaborative research into the effects of aviation on climate during World War Two bombing raids by researchers at the Lancaster Environment Centre has been featured widely in international media.
The paper entitled "World War Two Bombing Raids Offer New Insight into the Effects of Aviation on Climate" published in International Journal of Climatology, used wartime weather records to reveal the impact of contrails caused by USAAF raids and daily temperature records.

A UK-Canadian team of scientists has discovered ancient pockets of water, which have been isolated deep underground for billions of years and contain abundant chemicals known to support life.

How do we find out about cyber criminals?
Security Lancaster and the Department of Mathematics and Statistics held a workshop to form a new collaborative group who will widen the knowledge of cybercrime and start developing innovative approaches to obtaining information on cyber criminals. The workshop included security researchers and statisticians, solicitors specialising in cybercrime, and experts from government agencies.
