New Job Opportunity: Research Associate (Web Developer for FIRM)
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced web developer to work on the Framework for Innovation and Research in MediaCityUK (FIRM) project.
Within this project, Lancaster University is designing and developing a social IPTV application, giving users the ability to compose video stories in a collaborative environment using segments of featured and user-generated multimedia content.
Skills Required
Your expertise will be in the user-interface design using web technologies. You will be passionate about the user experience and possess ready skills on web standards and best practice. You will have experience of creating intuitive, modern and aesthetically pleasing web applications from scratch for heterogeneous end devices such as large-screen TVs, touch-screen PCs and tablets. You will be expected to demonstrate a portfolio of your previous work as part of your application.
You will have solid experience in HTML, PHP, CSS, Javascript, SQL and working with video objects in web applications. Having experience in WebSockets and HTML5 will put you at an advantage. We also value your ability to rapidly learn and adapt to new technologies beyond current skills and abilities.

How do we find out about cyber criminals?
Security Lancaster and the Department of Mathematics and Statistics held a workshop to form a new collaborative group who will widen the knowledge of cybercrime and start developing innovative approaches to obtaining information on cyber criminals. The workshop included security researchers and statisticians, solicitors specialising in cybercrime, and experts from government agencies.
