Academia for Green Africa Conference
As part of the Lancaster Environments Centre's strategy to expand its coverage and activities in other continents, the Lancaster Environment Centre in partnership with Envirofly Group is hosting the Academia for Green Africa (AFGA) International Conference to discuss ways of developing partnerships and environmental competence in Africa.
The Academia for Green Africa (AFGA) Initiative is targeted at developing environmental competence in Africa through strategic partnerships with overseas environmental bodies. With a conference theme of 'Securing Foreign Interest in Developing Environmental Competence in Africa', it will cover discussions on renewable energy, climate change, waste management and other environmental topics and how competence can be developed in Africa.
The conference will take place on the 11th and 12th of August, 2011 at the Lancaster Environment Centre, Lancaster University and is expected to pull together governmental officials from African countries and environmental experts, bodies and firms as well as researchers interested in the African continent. Registration has commenced in earnest and more details about AFGA and the conference are on the AFGA website.

How do we find out about cyber criminals?
Security Lancaster and the Department of Mathematics and Statistics held a workshop to form a new collaborative group who will widen the knowledge of cybercrime and start developing innovative approaches to obtaining information on cyber criminals. The workshop included security researchers and statisticians, solicitors specialising in cybercrime, and experts from government agencies.
