LEC Postgraduate Students on University Challenge
The Lancaster team with University Challenge host Jeremy Paxman.
Three Postgraduate students from the Lancaster Environment Centre are representing Lancaster University in the new series of University Challenge, which is currently being televised on BBC2.
Iain Dickson (MSc Ecology & the Environment), Ann Kretzschmar (PhD Environmental Science) and Alan Webster (MSc Resource & Environmental Management) all made it through the selection process and auditions to make the Lancaster team, along with an undergraduate student studying History.

Lancaster set to receive funding boost to stimulate UK's economy

A UK-Canadian team of scientists has discovered ancient pockets of water, which have been isolated deep underground for billions of years and contain abundant chemicals known to support life.

How do we find out about cyber criminals?
Security Lancaster and the Department of Mathematics and Statistics held a workshop to form a new collaborative group who will widen the knowledge of cybercrime and start developing innovative approaches to obtaining information on cyber criminals. The workshop included security researchers and statisticians, solicitors specialising in cybercrime, and experts from government agencies.
