Psychology BA Hons

UCAS Code: C802

Available for: 2009/2010 | 2010/2011

Summary

Full time 3 Years (part time options may be available)

Why do some people have problems with their memory? How do children learn to read? What effects do different drugs have on behaviour? How do we recognise faces? These are the kind of questions that the Psychology course at Lancaster is designed to answer. If you come here, you will share with us the excitement of finding out the answers to questions like these - both in the accumulated tradition of psychology, and in its latest developments. The choice between BA and BSc need not be made until the final year. It does not depend on the courses taken.

The degree scheme is fully accredited by the British Psychological Society and provides the Graduate Basis for Chartered membership (GBC) with the Society.

The majority of our Psychology graduates find jobs in the public and the commercial sector where their skills of analysis, understanding and communication stand them in good stead in finding employment. About half choose careers where their psychology training is especially important - teaching, personnel work, social work and the scientific and caring professions. Approximately a quarter continue their Psychology studies at higher level, either at Lancaster or at universities elsewhere in Britain or overseas.
