News list

http://www.lancs.ac.uk/sci-tech/xml/news_list.xml

Returns a list of news articles for a given site, with article id, headline, credit info, summary, thumbnail and date.

• Each 'article' element has an incremental 'index' attribute, starting at 0 for the first article on the list
• 'credit' and 'thumbnail' elements are optional

Variables

The following variables can be used:

site

Returns the news relevant to the specified site (defaults to 1)
eg. http://www.lancs.ac.uk/sci-tech/xml/news_list.xml?site=11

types

Returns articles of the specified type (defaults to 1,9)
eg. http://www.lancs.ac.uk/sci-tech/xml/news_list.xml?site=11&type=1

Author

Returns articles by a specified author
eg. http://www.lancs.ac.uk/sci-tech/xml/news_list.xml?site=10&type=19&author=2

limit

Limits the number of news articles in the list (default setting is off)
eg. http://www.lancs.ac.uk/sci-tech/xml/news_list.xml?site=11&type=1&limit=10

offset

Use with limit to set the starting point for you selection of news articles (defaults to 0, or the most recent news article)
eg. http://www.lancs.ac.uk/sci-tech/xml/news_list.xml?site=11&type=1&limit=10&offset=5

order

Sets the date order of news articles in the list (case insensitive: 'asc' or 'desc', defaults to 'desc')
eg. http://www.lancs.ac.uk/sci-tech/xml/news_list.xml?site=11&type=1&limit=10&offset=5&order=asc

• HTML tags in 'text' have been converted to '[[' and ']]' which can be re-formatted to '<' and '>'
• 'credit', 'image' and 'related_sites' elements are optional

Specifies the article to be returned (defaults to the most recent article)
eg. http://www.lancs.ac.uk/sci-tech/xml/news_article.xml?id=284

site

Returns an article only if it is linked to the specified site

eg. http://www.lancs.ac.uk/sci-tech/xml/news_article.xml?id=284&site=10 (matches article)
http://www.lancs.ac.uk/sci-tech/xml/news_article.xml?id=284&site=14 (no article match)

Event list

Returns a list of events for a given site, with event id, title, summary, event type, date information and thumbnail.

• Each 'event' element has an incremental 'index' attribute, starting at 0 for the first event on the list
