Professor Susan Cartwright
Head of Division
Staff in our Division are committed to undertaking a wide range of scholarly, research and education activities that generate new knowledge, services and products in order to meet society's current and future needs. Our expertise and contribution lies specifically around improved health, well-being and safety for individuals, enhancing the skills of a wide range of people, both lay and professional, in providing services, and their wider environments. This leads more broadly to enhanced human capital either for individuals and/or organisations and services in the public and private sector. We seek to be recognised as an authoritative voice in research and education both within and beyond the university. Our aim is to be valued internationally, nationally and regionally for the quality and policy/practice relevance of our research, education and training and for our contribution to knowledge exchange that improves service provision and care through better prepared professionals, practitioners, policy makers and health researchers.
The Division of Health Research (DHR) exists to conduct high-quality health-related research at Lancaster. In the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise, 95% of the division's research was rated as being of international standing.
We offer a range of quality programmes of postgraduate study whether by taught course or research. Our postgraduate programmes are offered at Lancaster and also via online learning. We also deliver undergraduate education across the Faculty.
