Medicine MBChB Entry Requirements

At present only home/EU students are eligible to apply for the medical degree programme at Lancaster. Applicants who are classified as overseas are not eligible. Applicants from the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands, who are not classified as Home students, are also not eligible to apply to study medicine at Lancaster. Please see here for more details.

Subject requirements: Biology, Chemistry and one other subject at A2 level
A2 level: AAA plus B in 4th AS subject.
Scottish Higher/Advanced Higher: Minimum of AAAAB / plus AA in Biology and Chemistry at Advanced Higher
International Baccalaureate: At least 36 points overall, to include three subjects at Higher Level, including Biology and Chemistry, with a minimum of 6 points in each plus three subjects at standard level, a minimum of 5 points each.
Irish Leaving Certificate: Not accepted on its own
BTEC National Diploma: Not accepted on its own. The Admissions tutor will comment on a pre-application CV.
Access: Specified Access to Medicine courses acceptable
General Studies: Accepted as 4th subject at AS level

Graduate Applications

Graduates wishing to apply to the five-year degree course at Lancaster should note the following requirements:

You should hold a first or a good 2i degree in a Biological, Biomedical or Health Sciences subject plus at least BBB at A level including Biology and Chemistry, OR a first or good 2i degree in any other subject plus AAB at A level including Biology (A) and Chemistry (A).

Please note: You must have completed your degree before applying; applications will not be accepted in the Autumn of the final year of your degree course.
